2d Cavalry Museum Grand Re-opening

Monday, July 25, 2011, the 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment will celebrate the grand opening of their new museum at Rose Barracks, Vilseck, Germany. This museum promises to have world-class exhibits found nowhere else in the military community.
My dad’s 2d Cavalry bier stein from 1954 will be used in the opening ceremony. I broke a small hole in the fine porcelain bottom when I was little from dropping an old 1800′s silver dollar in it. A German bier is to be poured in the stein and allowed to drain out the hole, for the troopers who have gone before us.
