The firing of the mounted salute to celebrate the remounting of the Second Regiment of Dragoons in 1844. On March 5, 1843, the Regiment had been renamed the Second Regiment of Riflemen and had their horses taken away. April 4, 1844, the Regiment returned to the 2nd Dragoon designation and was again in the saddle. Viewed: 804 times.

Champagne and red wine mark the beginning of the Regimental punch at formal Regimental gatherings.

The mixing of the Regimental punch is a time honored tradition, the specific ingredients representing the many battles and campaigns of the 2d Dragoons. The punch is begun by pouring one half bottle of champagne and red wine over dry ice, to commemorate the Regiments baptism in battle during the Seminole Indian wars of 1836 Florida. The Regimental Standard arrives at Ft. Lewis, Washington, April 2005, as the Regiment prepares to undergo a reorganization to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team. The flag of a mounted unit is traditionally referred to as the Standard, unlike other units which refer to their flag as the Colors.
