Operation "Hambone" Woods, led by C Troop, 2nd Squadron, was a well planned Squadron assault on the Jambon woods, setting up an attack on Frontiere, a carefully selected wooded vantage point protected from direct fire from the enemy strongholds at Moncourt and north of Xures. Although Frontiere would provide a protected pocket for the Squadron, the approach was well mapped by the enemy artillery. (click map to enlarge)
