The Second Cavalry enjoyed a recreation area set up at the Grosser Arber See, a beautiful lake near the Group CP at Brennes.

At the Arber See recreation center, run by the Group Special Services Officer, enlisted men of the Second Cavalry could enjoy three days of swimming, boating, horseback riding, or evening dances at the lodge with non-German women from nearby Zwiesel, Czechoslovakia. Non-fraternization with German women was still strictly enforced, and could cost an unwary trooper a large chunk of pay.

Numerous road blocks were set up all through the Second Cavalry sector. There were still a lot of dangerous Germans running around, and millions of refugees trying to escape the spreading Russian occupation of Central Europe.

Troop A 42d Squadron cleaned up in the softball leage, beating F Troop 2d Squadron in the championship game. 2d Squadron came back to win the hardball championship, and both Squadrons enjoyed winning seasons against nearby Regiments and Divisions.

The Regimental band was reformed, and Group parades with colors mounted were scheduled to help break the boredom of occupation duty.

In December of 1945, the 2d Cavalry is chosen for a secret mission to nab one of Hitler's main henchman who is busy running around Germany trying to mount an underground terrorist movement against the Allies.
